The correct storage of elastomers affects the durability of the sealing material.

The correct storage of elastomers affects the durability of the sealing material. Weather effects like oxygen, ozone, heat, moisture or solvents affect the quality of the elastomers during storing.

Because of that it is important to comply the storing provisions (requirements for storing rubber-products DIN7716 and ISO 2230).

The basic procedure should be the use after first in first out principle.

HEAT

The temperature in the warehouse should be between +10 °C and +20 °C. Differences could force a reduction of the durability. Also the direct contact to heat sources as well as sunlight should be avoided.

MOISTURE

The relativ humidity should be below 70 % in the warehouse. Extreme wet or dry conditions should be avoided.

CONTACT

While storage the contact to solvents, fuel, chemicals or acids should be avoided.

LIGHT / ILLUMINATION

Elastomer seals should be protected of light. Especially direct sunlight and artificial light with UV proportion should be avoided.

OXYGEN / OZONE

The original package should be kept or the exclusion of air (no circulation) is recommended also the use of airtight containers is suggested.

DEFORMATION

The storing of elastomer seals should be without pressure and deformation. Any kind of tension could force a deformation or small cracks. O-rings should not be stretched, bend, fold or hung on a hook.

We recommend that the following storage times are not significantly exceeded:
